Selections from an Old Sketch Book

This is a character I designed in Junior High. I've been drawing new versions of him since then. This is my favorite one and probably the best drawing of him too. His name is Dat (D og c AT), I was always horrible at naming my characters lol. I was teaching myself a way to do dynamic perspective and I used it to draw this. No refs or anything just hours of wracking my brain 'til things made sense (I need to start doing that again).

This is Juin or June a character created by a friend of mine (Andrew Brookins) in Junior High as a nemesis to Dat. A super smart monkey guy. I used the same perspective method in this drawing and this one was a lot easier to do. I love these characters.

A figure drawing. I love drawing from life. I don't do it enough though. You may notice the lines drawn from point to point in this drawing. I use that method of measurement rather than the common pencil measuring method because it's harder for me to goof it up. I also like that I don't have to translate pencil measurements and alter them to change the size of my drawing. I can get accuracy with angles and that's just more fun for me.

Another drawing of the same model. I was more loosened up at this point and got further with the drawing.

A random kid from a computer class I had. I swear to you he looked EXACTLY like this. I had fun drawing these.

The very young very meticulous me lol. I like the look of these old drawings, but some of them were too much of a labor for me to be happy about them. I'm trying to find that happy medium. However I realize that I really just need to draw more. With more drawing the speed and ease will come and I can still have this refined look. Oh wellz I'm off to draw. I've inspired myself with a look back at my old art. Hope you liked what you've seen.
